Greg Norman has been accused of profiting from the authoritarian Saudi regime.[48]In 2021, Norman rejected being exploited for sportswashing and said that he works for LIV because he loves the sport.[49]Later, in May 2022, Norman supported Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s role.Mohammed bin SalmanwithJamal Khashoggi’smurder“Look, we’ve all made errors, and you just want to learn from those experiences and how to avoid them in the future,” he says. It was reported in September that a letter had been written toJapan Golf Tourmembers warning them that the PGA Tour will prohibit LIV Golf players from its co-sanctioned tournaments, such as theZozo Championship, even if they were not members of the PGA Tour. It was speculated as the reason that all four Japanese players who had played in earlier events had withdrawn from the series prior to the fourth event in Boston.[60]It was also claimed that a letter had been issued to PGA Tour members who had joined LIV Golf but not quit their membership of the PGA Tour notifying them that their membership would “not be renewed for the2022–23 season“.[61]
